OJLL Makes A Ruling on the Beaches, Hill Gets a Shutout, and Burnaby Stops Coquitlam
It was an eventful week in box lacrosse to say the least. The story of the week was OJLL’s confirmation that the Toronto Beaches will forfeit their first eight games of the 2024 season, due to rules violations surrounding the use of players from affiliate organizations.
The Beaches still have the right to appeal, but if the forfeiture is upheld, the standings in Ontario will look very different. LCD covered the standings implications this week, which readers can find below.

The Standings Implications of the Toronto Beaches Forfeited Games
The OJLL confirmed Wednesday that the Toronto Beaches will be forced to forfeit their first eight games of the 2024 season due to a violation of league rules regarding the use of players from affiliate organizations.
The other major news across the country is the upcoming trade deadlines, beginning with the OJLL deadline on Saturday June 22.
The Oakville Buzz began the sell-off in Ontario with two trades this week, including a blockbuster deal that sent their leading scorer Will Sheehan to the Toronto Beaches.
Coverage of all the trades around the country including the OJLL and BCJALL, can be found by clicking on the button below.
And if you are looking for coverage of what might still occur, check out this piece from LCD’s Jon Donville which looks at a few more candidates for trades before the deadline.

Ontario
Other than the Beaches news, the story this week in Ontario was the shutout by Six Nations Chiefs’ goaltender Warren Hill. The Chiefs won by a score of 8-0, and Hill added an assist in the game.
Shutouts in the MSL are more rare than readers might think, and Hill is the first goalie in a long time to actually blank an MSL lineup.

British Columbia
The story in British Columbia this week was the play of the Burnaby Lakers, who defeated the previously dominant Coquitlam Adanacs by a score of 6-5 .The Adanacs had won seven straight games coming into this one.
The win was thanks in large part to the play of Burnaby goaltender Brayden Wandler, who came over just last week in a trade from Langley. If he can continue playing like that, the Lakers will have a chance to compete.
Speaking of the Adanacs, check out this article from LCD’s Cameron MacKenzie which chronicles Adanacs forward Ryan Colsey. The Connecticut native and UVA midfielder joins a growing list of American players coming up north. Check that story out below.
