Let’s get into the week that was in Ontario lacrosse.
Monday June 24
Peterborough Lakers 10 – Peterborough Lakers 9
Nicholas Roode continued his strong season with 4 goals for the Lakers who are still in the thick of the playoff race. Thunder Hill continued his strong play with his new club with 2 goals and 3 assists.
Mimico Mountaineers 13 – Toronto Beaches 8
Finn Thomson and Isaiah Moran-Weekes had 7 points each to lead the Mountaineers. Mimico trailed 5-2 early in the second period, but scored 8 straight goals and held on to win. Will Sheehan scored 4 goals in his second Beaches game.
Tuesday June 24
Orangeville Northmen 18 – Oakville Buzz 4
Trey Deere and Joey Spallina had 8 points each as the Beaches beat the decimated Oakville Buzz. Oakville traded every fifth year but one before the deadline.
Brampton Excelsiors 7 – Whitby Warriors 6
Everyone got the message about the Exclesiors tanking except, apparently, the Excelsiors. Nolan Byrne and Jacob Janke had 4 points each as the Excels won another game without the recently traded Connor O’Toole, Dante Bowen, and Bowie Horsman.
Thursday June 26
Burlington Blaze 7 – St. Catharines Athletics 6
The Athletics defence played well, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Blaze. Xander Derkatz continued his hot play for the Blaze, while Will Macleod and Alex Marinier had 4 points each. Matthew Hamill scored 4 goals for the Arrows including the OT winner.
Six Nations Arrows 12 – Toronto Beaches 11
In a stunning game, the Arrows scored the last six goals of the game to beat the Beaches, who are now in fight for their playoff lives.
KW 10 – Brampton Excelsiors 8
KW picked up a nice victory over the Excels, led by 7 points from Chris Rathwell.
Thursday June 27
Orangeville Northmen 8 – Mimico Mountaineers 6
In a game that will likely seal the top seed for the Northmen, Joey Spallina led all scorers with 5 points on 2 goals and 3 assists. Mimico got 3 points each from Lucas Dudemaine, Finn Thomson, and Justin Lee.
St. Catharines Athletics 8 – Oakville Buzz 3
Trent Mooradian had 3 goals and 2 assists to lead the Athletics to another victory. Jake Dawick scored 3 points for the Buzz.
Toronto Beaches 11 – Peterborough Lakers 2
Willem Firht had 9 points as the Beaches put a resounding end to their mini-skid. Toronto will need to play like this the rest of the way.

Monday June 24
Cobourg Kodiaks 7 – Oakville Rock 5
Cobourg beat Oakville twice in a row, this time led by Zach Herreweyers and his hat-trick. Ryan Lanchbury led all scorers with 2 goals and 3 assists.
Tuesday June 25
Six Nations Chiefs 13 – Brooklin L.C 7
Cody Jamieson scored 3 goals and 5 assists to lead the Chiefs, while Randy Staats added 2 goals and 4 assists. They handed Brooklin their first loss of the seaoson, and Six Nations stayed perfect.
Peterborough Lakers 13 – Owen Sound North Stars 7
Thomas Hoggarth had 8 points, Joe Resetarits had 7 points, and Holden Cattoni had 6 points to lead the Lakers. Peterborough is now 4-4 on the year.
Thursday June 26
Six Nations Chiefs 14 – Peterborough Lakers 7
Cody Jamieson and Lyle Thompson had 5 points each to lead the Chiefs, while goaltender Doug Jamieson made 46 saves. Six Nations remains undefeated.
Cobourg Kodiaks 6 – Brampton Excelsiors 5
Defender Jackson Nishamura led the game in scoring with 1 goal and 2 assists, while Dustyn Birkhof scored the game winner for Cobourg.
