Ten Teams Remain as the Road to the Minto Continues
At the beginning of the Junior A playoffs, 16 teams remained in the race for the Minto Cup.
This morning, only ten teams remain. And that could soon be down to eight.
The cream is beginning to rise to the top in Ontario, where Orangeville followed up their first round sweep with a resounding 16-4 victory over the St. Catharines Athletics in game one.
Meanwhile, Mimico and Peterborough will square off in the playoffs for the first time since Mimico got their Junior A franchise back in 2015.
In BC, both Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam are within one game of sweeping their semi-final series. The Saints will look to punch their ticket to the Minto Cup with a series win over Nanaimo.
And in Alberta, the Edmonton Miners and Okotoks Raiders both swept in the first round and are set to do battle in the RMLL for the right to head west in August.
