Coquitlam Loads Up at the Deadline
The national story of the week was the trade deadline in the BCJALL. For the second straight year, Cody Malawsky is headed to the Coquitlam Adanacs.
For potentially confused readers from Ontario, the BCJALL allows “rental trades.” Malawsky was property of Langley and got traded last year on a rental trade to Coquitlam. He returned to the Thunder this season following his school year at Denver, then was traded again this week. He will return to Langley again next summer.
Malawsky joins fellow Denver Pioneer Noah Manning in Coquitlam. Manning was also traded at the deadline, coming over from Victoria. Meanwhile, Silas Richmond joined the Port Coquitlam Saints, as the rich got richer in BC. Read the full trade deadline recap from around the country below!

Ontario
What a weird week it was in Ontario. The week started with an epic Overtime clash between the Toronto Beaches and Orangeville Northmen. LCD’s Jon Donville had coverage of that one, which can be found below!

A Couple Things: Northmen Outlast Beaches
Joey Spallina had 12 points while Bowie Horsman scored the OT winner as Orangeville beat the Toronto Beaches.
Meanwhile, the Brampton Excelsiors refuse to go quietly into the night, as they beat the Mimico Mountaineers. Brampton traded three of their best players to Orangeville but have just kept winning.
In Toronto, the Beaches are still awaiting the result of their appeal, but have a must-win tonight against Mimico. The Beaches will not want to rely on the appeal, and must secure a victory against their cross-town rivals.
In Whitby, the Warriors lost six straight before rebounding with a win over the Burlington Blaze, while KW gained ground in their own playoff race.
The Blaze play KW tonight in a game that will decide two contests. After the conclusion 0f the game, they will play a ten minute overtime period to determine the outcome of their last game, which incorrectly ended in a tie.
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, there will be no Ontario recap this week.
British Columbia
The aforementioned deadline was the story this week, but now the attention turns to the playoff seeding race. Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam have separated themselves, but a big cluster follows them.
Nanaimo sits at 9-5 and has the best chance to break out of the pack. Burnaby (9-7), Victoria (8-8), and New Westminster (8-8) are all locked up in the middle of the standings.
In the WLA, Victoria is the clear favourite at 9-0. The next closest team isn 5-5. The Shamrocks seem to be on a collision course with the Six Nations Chiefs out east.
On LCD this week, we continued our series of WLA deep dives with the respective head coaches of the team. Our own Jake Elliott hosted the Lacrosse Classified Podcast with Langley Thunder Head Coach Ian Poole.
