Not many top five picks need to wait a few weeks to get into the lineup. Now, not many top five picks are sitting behind at least two likely future hall of famers, one Team Canada player, and a fellow young forward who was also a first round pick.
When Brayden Mayea did get in this weekend, he made it count. With 2 goals and an assist, he showed that he is more than capable of playing in the NLL, and just adds to the incredible depth the Roughnecks have.
Two other players made their debuts as well this past weekend. Georgia’s Toron Eccleston found the lineup for the first time, registering an assist for the Swarm. As you likely saw, the game was played in silence in a nearly empty building due to road conditions in Atlanta. What an odd way to begin a career, but congrats to Toron nonetheless.
And lastly, Beaches product and Johns Hopkins alumni Jackson Raposo made his debut for the Albany Firewolves in their loss to the Colorado Mammoth. And important part of the Beaches run to the Minto Cup in 2022, Raposo will look to give some transition juice to the Firewolves lineup.
Bouncing around the rest of the league, Mike Robinson led all rookies in scoring with 4 points this weekend on a goal and 3 assists. Brennan O’Neill, Brian Cameron, Adam Poitras had 3 points each. Poitras also scored this slick btb goal.
