The Ottawa Black Bears’ Zach Higgins was electric in the team’s 11-5 home win – the first home win in their new city (after moving from Long Island, New York, and changing their name from the New York Riptide).
Even more impressive, Higgins made his 38 saves and shut down the Rock in his team debut – he was traded from the Philadelphia Wings over the offseason.
Higgins arrived in Ottawa after a long stint in Philadelphia with the Wings. Before that, he bounced around the NLL, making stops in Minnesota (and moving to Georgia with the Swarm franchise), Calgary and Buffalo.
Save for one season in Minnesota though, he never had the chance to start. After running with the starting role for the Wings, he was the jewel of the off-season for the Black Bears. One game into the tenure, it seems as though it was a good investment by Rich Lisk and company.
Hear Higgins’ thoughts about the game, his performance, which earned him NLL Player of the Week honors, the fans in Ottawa, and much more in this latest edition of TLMP.
