The Haudenosaunee Nationals announced their roster for the 2024 World Box lacrosse championships, which will be held this September in Utica.
The full roster was announced Monday in a tweet. It can be viewed below.
The Haudenosaunee Nationals also previously announced their women’s roster for the tournament as well.
The Haudenosaunee roster boasts a lethal offensive group led by Lyle Thompson, Zed Williams, Randy Staats, and Eli McLaughlin. Warren Hill and Doug Jamieson provide the team with sound goaltending as well.
McLaughlin was the highest scorer of the group in 2023-2024, finishing with 43 goals and 50 assists. Thompson was close behind with 42 goals and 45 assists, while Larson Sundown had 30 goals and 33 assists.
They are the last of the three major teams to announce their roster for the tournament. Read more about Canada and USA’s roster below.
Roster balance will be a storyline for the team, as at least 10 of the 23 players compete full time offensively in the NLL, while young players Trey Deere and Koleton Marquis play out the offensive door as well. Of those 12 total offensive players, eight are right-handed.
The Nationals will look to avenge their 2019 loss to Canada in the finals. The final score of that game was 19-12. The Nationals have never won the tournament, but have gotten the silver medal in each of the five tournaments. Their closest finish was a 15-14 overtime loss to Canada in the 2007 tournament in Halifax.
The Nationals will begin the tournament on opening night, Friday September 20, against the USA. Their round robin game against the Canadians will take place on Sunday September 22. The full schedule can be found here.
The tournament will also feature a women’s division for the first time. That tournament will kick off on the 20th of September as well.
