The MSL announced their league award winners on Wednesday for the 2024 regular season. 

The league is currently in the process of finishing the first round of playoffs. Brooklin Lacrosse Club finished their series against Brampton on Wednesday and the Cobourg Kodiaks also defeated the Oakville Rock. The Peterborough Lakers play at the Memorial Center tonight and will look to finish their series with the Owen Sound North Stars. 

The three winners of round one will join the top seeded Six Nations Chiefs (who got a bye) in the second round of the playoffs as they seek a trip to the Mann Cup.

The full list of award winners is below. 

MVP

The 2024 MVP award was given to Zach Higgins of the Brooklin Lacrosse Club. In 11 combined games between regular season and playoffs, Higgins recorded a 7.73 goals against average. He allowed just nine combined goals against Brampton in the two playoff games that he competed in. 

Defensive Player of the Year 

The Defensive Player of the Year award was given to Matt Marinier of the Cobourg Kodiaks. In 12 games for the Kodiaks, Marinier had 2 goals and 6 assists, along with 22 PIMs. 

Rookie of the Year 

The Rookie of the Year award was given to Braedon Saris of the Cobourg Kodiaks. Between the regular season and playoffs, Saris scored 13 goals and had 30 assists in 14 games. The 30 assists currently rank seventh in the MSL.

Coaching Staff of the Year 

The Coaching Staff of the Year award was given to the Brooklin Lacrosse Club, who are led by Head Coach Joel Johnson, and assistant coaches Clancy Almas and Brad Reed. They led the Lacrosse Club to a second place finish in the MSL this year. 

Leading Scorer

The Bucko Macdonald trophy for leading scorer in the MSL was given to Ryan Lanchbury of the Oakville Rock. Lanchbury had 34 goals and 42 assists to lead the MSL circuit in scoring.

Lowest Goals Against Average 

The Harry Lumley Award for Lowest Goals Against Average was given to Warren Hill of the Six Nations Chiefs. Hill finished the season with a 4.86 GAA.
