In the 2019 NLL Finals, Rhys Duch scored to win the game for the Calgary Roughnecks.
But it wasn’t just the final goal that made the difference for Calgary. First, Dane Dobbie scored with under a minute remaining to presumably win it for the Roughnecks, but Corey Small responded to send it to Overtime.
In OT, Zach Currier made a miraculous save on Dhane Smith to keep the game alive, then Duch scored to win it after a timeout from coach Malawsky.
On the most recent episode of the Back of the Bird, coach Malawsky explained how those final moments took place from his vantage point. Duch was also a former guest on the program, and his comments are included in the video as well.
Give it a listen to hear about one of the great games in recent NLL history from the people who made it happen.
