Note: This article was originally published on February 28, 2024, after Doug Jamieson scored in Buffalo. New information is noted in bold after Matt Vinc scored over the weekend.
Matt Vinc brought the number of NLL goalie goals to a nice round 25 on Saturday, scoring his first since January 12th, 2008! Read more below for the full list of every goalie goal in league history!
The only shame for Bandits fans is that the goal was scored on the road. Vinc’s goal song this season is the Bills Shout Song, which surely would have rocked the crowd at the Keybank Center.
When Albany Firewolves goaltender Doug Jamieson scored on Saturday, he again etched his name into the NLL history books.
According to statistics from Graeme Perrow’s nllstats.com, Jamieson’s goal was the 22nd goal by a goaltender during the regular season in league history. Two goals have been scored in the playoffs (more on those later).
Jamieson already joined the list in 2018 when he scored for the then New England Black Wolves. But in scoring Saturday, he joined a list of list of just six goaltenders to have scored multiple goals.
Vinc is now the seventh!
Rob Blasdell remains the king of goalie goals, scoring four goals as a member of the Arizona Albany Attack, Arizona Sting, and Philadelphia Wings. Nick Rose has sole ownership of second place with 3 goals in the regular season, and he is still the only goalie to ever score twice in one season (2017).
Pat O’Toole is the only goalie to score in both the playoffs and the regular season, and had three goals cumulatively between the two. Now, Jamieson brings himself into a tie with Brandon Miller, Nick Damude… and Matt Vinc.
While many lacrosse fans would remember the most recent goals, we looked at every goal ever scored by a goaltender, dating back to 1992 when goalie offensive stats became available. Technically the league was still called the MILL in those days, and wouldn’t become the NLL until 1998.
So here it is, a list of the 24 goalie goals (that we know of) that were scored by goaltenders.Â
April 5, 2025 – Matt Vinc vs Colorado Mammoth
🚨 STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING! MATT VINC JUST SCORED🚨
— NLL (@NLL) April 6, 2025
This is Vinc's first goal since January 12, 2008 when he was a member of the NY Titans. pic.twitter.com/O4BjwgB7rc
Vinc scored his second career goal and first since 2008 in the dying stages of the Bandits victory over the Mammoth. It was the third goalie goal against the Mammoth since 2022.
February 24, 2024 – Doug Jamieson vs Buffalo Bandits
Jamieson scored his second career goal against the Buffalo Bandits. The goal made it a three-goal lead and secured the 13-10 victory for Albany over the defending champion Bandits.
Feb 24, 2023 – Nick Damude vs Colorado Mammoth
One of three goaltender goals scored outside the fourth quarter, Damude buried his second career goal against the Mammoth at 11:21 of the third quarter. The play occurred after Colorado pulled goaltender Dillon Ward out of the goal for a surprise 6v5 scenario, and Damude scored before Ward could scramble back.
It is one of only two goalie goals in league history to have occurred in a loss.
March 11, 2022 – Nick Damude vs Colorado Mammoth
Damude scored his first career goal in 2022, launching the long-ball to secure the victory for Panther City over the Mammoth. It was the first of two career goals at Ball Arena for Damude.
April 27, 2019 – Doug Jamieson vs Rochester Knighthawks
Playing for the then New England Black Wolves, Jamieson’s first career goal was another one of the few that occurred before the final stanza. He scored at 10:35 of the first quarter against the Rochester Knighthawks. It was a crucial goal in a game that finished as a 14-12 victory for New England.
March 25, 2017 – Nick Rose vs Vancouver Stealth
Against the Stealth, Rose became the first goaltender to score two goals in the same season, polishing off a 13-7 victory for the Rock.
February 18, 2017 – Nick Rose vs Rochester Knighthawks
Unfortunately we couldn’t find video of this one, but Rose scored in the fourth quarter to seal the 10-6 victory for the Rock.
February 19, 2016 – Nick Rose vs Buffalo Bandits
Rose scored his first career goal against the Bandits, and in doing so produced an all-time NLL gif. This one was unofficially the best celebration of any goal on the list.
February 28, 2015 – Tyler Richards vs Minnesota Swarm
Playing at the Langley Events Center for the Vancouver Stealth, Richards scored the 20th Vancouver goal against the Swarm. Shoutout to Lacrosse Culture Daily contributors Jake Elliott and Brad Challoner on the call for this one.
May 9, 2009 – Matt King vs San Jose Stealth
Arguably the greatest goalie goal of all-time, King scored the Game Winner of the Western Conference Final for the Calgary Roughnecks against the San Jose Stealth, to send the Roughnecks to the finals.
It just so happened that the goal occurred in the dying moments of the first quarter, as the Roughnecks put together a legendary blowout in the league semi finals. King’s goal made it 6-0 for the Roughnecks, who led by a remarkable score of 15-0 after three quarters in one of the most dominant efforts in league history.
March 28, 2009 – Brandon Miller vs Colorado Mammoth
His second goal of his career, Miller (then playing for the original Philadelphia Wings) scored in the fourth quarter of a 17-13 victory for the Wings over the Colorado Mammoth.
The below video from the Youtuber James Lahm is light on in-focus precision, but heavy on nostalgia for a time when this was the way fans viewed lacrosse highlights.
March 14, 2008 – Rob Blasdell vs San Jose Stealth
The all-time champion of goalie goals, Blasdell scored his fourth career goal in 2008 vs the Stealth.
January 12, 2008 – Matt Vinc vs Portland Lumberjax
The only goal scored thus far by the most accomplished goalie in league history, Vinc buried shorthanded to secure the 14-11 victory for the Titans.
March 16, 2007 – Rob Blasdell vs Calgary
The third of four for Blasdell, then playing for the Arizona Sting. This one came against the Roughnecks in a 14-10 victory.
January 27, 2006 – Dallas Eliuk vs San Jose Stealth
Eliuk scored the only goal of his career against the Stealth in 2006 en route to a 15-8 victory by the Lumberjax.
December 30, 2005 – Gee Nash vs Philadelphia Wings
Playing for Colorado, Gee Nash scored the only goal of his career during the first quarter of their game against Philadelphia. Detailed game statistics became available in 2005, making this the first recorded goalie goal that occurred during a loss (only the aforementioned Damude goal has since occurred).
January 8, 2005 – Matt Roik vs Philadelphia Wings
Roik scored to secure the victory for the Anaheim Storm during the second of the team’s two seasons in Anaheim. It was the only goal of his career.
2004 – Brandon Miller
Miller scored the first of his career as a member of the San Jose Stealth. Unfortunately, game details before 2005 are lacking, so it isn’t actually clear when he scored the goal.
2003 Playoffs – Pat O’Toole
The third goal of O’Toole’s career and the first ever (that we know of) playoff goal by a goaltender. O’Toole was one of the most prolific scoring goaltenders of all-time.
2003 – Rob Blasdell
Playing for the Albany Attack, Blasdell continued on his path to the all-time record.
2002 – Rob Blasdell and Pat O’Toole
Two of the all-time greats both scored during the 2002 season. It was Blasdell’s first of four, and O’Tooles second of three.
2001 – Pat O’Toole
See above.
2000 – Devin Dolep
Playing for the Pittsburgh Crossfire, Dolep’s 4 points in 12 games came in 79 points behind team leader Gary Gait.
1992 – Ted Sawicki
Playing for the Detroit Turbos, Sawicki scored the oldest old that I could find in 1992. Playing in an era where goaltenders were more active, Sawicki had 1 goal, 14 assists, and 46 loose balls in just 7 games played.
Editors Note: Special Credit to commenter Steve Wizniuk for tracking down the Sawicki goal. It is embedded below!

Found the Sawicki goalie goal! He did it in Buffalo so that is crazy that the oldest and most recent goalie goals were scored in Banditland

Thanks Steve! We embedded the video into the article!
No problem! Lucky that people post these old school games
