It is inevitable that players get hurt in lacrosse. Some injuries impact a team more than others. Keeping track of those changes can be hard to follow, but injuries to key players are sure to impact games every weekend.

This is our first instalment so let’s catch up on who’s back from injury (Innies) and who’s out (Ouchies). Check back here every Friday for updates heading into the weekend.

Innies

Chris Corbeil – #16 Toronto Rock

Corbeil finally made his season debut last week against Calgary after missing the first portion of the season due to injury. A proven winner and leader, Corbeil brings another veteran presence to Toronto’s defensive core.

Corbeil provides important depth for the Rock who are still missing stud Latrell due to ACL surgery and just placed Josh Jubenville on the IR yesterday.

Doug Jamieson – #30 Albany Firewolves

Jamieson came out of the game at halftime while playing the Seals on January 20th. Backup Justin Geddie played well in relief, but the Firewolves suffered their first loss of the season.

Geddie allowed just nine goals as the starter in Albany’s next game, but the Firewolves dropped that one. They sit at 6-2 now, but remain undefeated in games that Jamieson starts and finishes.

Albany had a bye last weekend and have placed Jamieson back on the roster for their game this weekend against Colorado. Having their starter back between the pipes will be a significant development for the Firewolves.

Tom Schreiber- #26 Toronto Rock

Schreiber is the highest profile player to come off the IR this year. He was activated on January 27th and has looked comfortable in the Rock lineup.

One of the best players in the game today, Schreiber has chipped in 14 points in just three games since returning.

Zack Greer – #88 Las Vegas Desert Dogs

Greer has been put back on the active roster from the Short Term Hold Out List. From the outside looking in, it would appear that his appearances on the transaction list have been mostly due to work-related issues.

Greer has played six of the eight games this season for the Dogs, but all three of Vegas’ wins have come with the Duke legend in the lineup.

Ouchies

Mac O’Keefe – #3 San Diego Seals

O’Keefe made his return to the Seals lineup in their game against Colorado on January 13. He scored four goals in his first contests, each one of them a victory for the Seals.

However, against Colorado he was hit awkwardly in the boards and came up favouring his arm. He missed San Diego’s contest against the Riptide last weekend.

Jacob Dunbar, who was also recently activated from the injured reserve, has filled the empty spot in the Seals lineup while O’Keefe is out.

Tehoka Nanticoke – #1 Buffalo Bandit

Nanticoke was placed on the injured reserve on February 3rd and missed the Bandits last game due to injury.

He has been a reliable scorer this year, finding the back of the net in every game for the Bandits up to that point. Nanticoke is a big part of the Bandits offence and played an important role in their championship run last season. He figures to miss tonight’s contest as well, as he remains on the IR.

Danny Logan – #91 San Diego Seals

Logan was moved to the IR last week. The PLL and Team USA star has made a seamless transition to the box, earning a position on the NLL all-rookie team last year.

Mitigating the loss for the Seals the return of fellow American Eli Gobrecht. Gobrecht, who also plays in the PLL, returned recently from an off-season surgery from an injury sustained while playing in the summer.

Randy Staats – #83 Halifax Thunderbirds

Staats has been out of the line-up since the end of January. He was placed on the IR on January 31st.

One of the most natural scorers in the league, Staats was off to a great start this season with 28 points in five games. Clarke Petterson, Austin Shanks, and rookie Aaron Woods have helped the Thunderbirds stay in the win column, but you can bet that Halifax will wan number 83 back sooner rather than later.

Check back next Friday for another update!
