Perfect Seasons End in Sr. A

After both going undefeated during the regular season, the Victoria Shamrocks and Six Nations Chiefs have both faced some adversity in the playoffs.

Victoria passed a stiff test last night, defeating New Westminster in a winner-take-all game five. Meanwhile Six Nations lost their second game in a row and now trail the MSL finals against Peterborough 2-0. More on those series later.

This week the three stars are the following:

โญ: Landon Kells, Peterborough Lakers Sr. A. Made 53 saves and allowed just 5 goals against Six Nations.

โญโญ: Marshal King, Victoria Shamrocks Sr. A. Scored 3 goals and 3 assists in Victoria’s game five win over New Westminster.

โญโญโญ: Colton Armstrong, Peterborough Lakers Sr. A. Scored the game winning goal with 3:07 remaining in the game against Six Nations.

The other notable news of the week is that the Minto Cup begins Saturday in Coquitlam. LCD’s Jon Donville will be taking over this newsletter for the week, sending daily updates from the tournament. If others are interested in receiving the newsletter, a subscription box can be found on LCD’s home page.

That coverage kicked off with the following article, which highlights ten players to watch during this year’s tournament.

In the WLA, the attention shifted to the series between the Shamrocks and Salmonbellies. After New Westminster defended home floor, the Shamrocks had to go back to the island to win the series.

Marshal King scored 6 points while Patrick Dodds added a hat-trick for Victoria. They will now face Langley in the finals, with a birth in the Mann Cup on the line.

Highlights of the game are on Youtube. Check them out below.

As always on LCD, the boys from Lacrosse Classified released an excellent Wednesday episode. This week they celebrated 300 episodes with a double interview featuring Chris Gill and Andrew Suitor. Find that below!
