I hoped I would never have to write this article, but this will be the last post on Lacrosse Culture Daily.

This project has spanned nearly two full years of my life, with more than a year and a half of daily content. I am incredibly proud of the work that we have done in that time, but for personal and business reasons, it’s time to close the site down.

This site began as the brainchild of Jesse Gamble and Brodie Merrill, and it would not have been possible without their guidance and support. Jesse specifically has been a mentor to me, and I am extremely grateful for his support, both with the site and in life.

It would also not have been possible without an incredibly talented team of writers and podcasters. Regular contributors Jake Elliott, Evan Schemenauer, Pat Gregoire, Teddy Jenner, and Brad Challoner have been with us since inception, and I would not have made it this far without them. More recently, contributors like Adam Levi, Lucas Argier, Muhammad Jomha, Dan May, Dan Arestia and Todd Tobias have helped make this site a destination for lacrosse fans. My sincere thanks goes out to all of them.

Of course, that doesn’t include my partners Dan Lomas and Paul Dawson from the Back of the Bird, who have become two of my best friends in addition to podcast partners. Stay tuned next week for an update on the pod.

Over these last two years, I have poured my heart into making the kind of lacrosse content that I wanted to read. From Canadians in the NCAA, to OJLL recaps, to the College Lacrosse Show, I have tried to deliver on the promise of LCD, which was to publish informative, entertaining content at all stages of the lacrosse calendar, and create a platform for others to do the same.

But covering lacrosse while still playing was always going to be a challenge, and I have struggled (like many people do) with burnout. My playing career is not indefinite, and I want to focus on being the best player and teammate I can be. In the meantime, I will be taking a step back from lacrosse media.

I want to say a sincere thank you to anyone who read, watched, listened to or consumed LCD content in any form. It was great to hear from so many of you and it meant a great deal that you made me and us a part of your daily routine.

Lacrosse is the greatest sport in the world, and I hope to see many of you around an arena, stadium, field, floor or box sometime soon.

Until then, thanks for reading,

Jon Donville
