As the calendar flips to March, the 2025 NCAA lacrosse season is heating up. After one of the best weekends of games in recent memory, lacrosse fans should get set for a mad race to the finish line.
Before we start, I once again owe an apology to Julian Race (St. Catharines, Ontario), Sheldon Broughton (Toronto, Ontario), David Peterkin (Lindsay, Ontario), Tye Steenhuis (St. Catharines), and Cade Cordingley (Orangeville, Ontario). These five players are currently competing for the Hobart Statesmen, and due to a technical error in the data last week, I failed to include them in the story. They bring the total number of Canadians in D1 to 227.Â
Also, this week will once again just feature the men, as I haven’t had enough time to get the women’s roster data uploaded. It is still coming.
The biggest performance last week came from Drexel’s Max Semple (Coquitlam, British Columbia). He had 4 goals in a win over NJIT and followed that up with 6 goals and an assist against Mercer, for a combined 10 goals and 11 points in two games. The 3-3 Dragons lost a tough one last night to Villanova, but will look to keep winning games.
Max Semple has been named CAA Offensive Player of the Week.

Semple scored 4 goals, including the game-winner, at NJIT followed by 6 goals and an assist at the ATL Lacrosse Invitational vs Mercer.

Another outstanding week wa turned in by Robert Morris attackmen Calum Brennan (Kingsville, Ontario), who had a sock-trick of his own in a win over Hobart. His previous career high was 3 goals, scored in a loss to High Point earlier this year, so it was a breakout game for the Sophomore.
Queens NC attackman Jack Royer (Edmonton, Alberta) made sure the Alberta boys were heard from this week, scoring 4 goals and adding an assist in their victory over UMass Lowell. Royer played in multiple Minto Cups with the Edmonton Miners, and has had a nice career in Charlotte. Last week’s contest put him over the 130 point mark on his career.
Denver’s Noah Manning made his return to the starting lineup against Cornell and looked good last week, finishing with 6 goals and 2 assists in back to back victories over Marist and Quinnipiac.
Stony Brook’s Brendan Marino (Otonabee, Ontario) is out to a strong start to his college career. He had 4 goals and an assist in his first career start, which won him co-rookie of the week honours in the CAA.
From an impact point perspective, nobody had a better week than Levi Verch (Victoria, British Columbia). He finished with an assist, 8 loosies, and 4 caused turnovers for the St. Joseph’s Mountain Hawks.
An equally outstanding game came from RMU defender Elijah Edwards (Cambridge, Ontario). He finished with 2 goals, 2 caused turnovers, and 8 loose balls. That’s a heck of a day for the Orangeville Northmen product!

Thanks for this and very glad the women’s side is coming. Please keep it up!
Thanks for including the Hobart players. Was wondering if your Cornell was coming through. Btw, we have Jacob Janke coming in next year. MAybe 1 or 2 more from north of the border.
