Major Series Lacrosse held their annual entry draft on Sunday, with five rounds of selections being made.

Mimico’s Finn Thomson was unsurprisingly the top pick in the draft by the Brampton Excelsiors. Thomson was one of the best junior players statistically of all time and led the Mountaineers to game 7 of the Ontario finals this past season.

The top 11 picks came from three junior clubs, between Mimico, Burlington, and the Toronto Beaches. These were three of the clubs without Sr. A affiliation so none of their players could be protected. For the protected lists, check out the list below the draft order below.

Following Thomson was Minto Cup champion and prolific goal scorer Will MacLeod. He had 120 points last season combined between regular season and playoffs, and was instrumental in that aforementioned run to the Minto for the Blaze two seasons ago. He joins a Brooklin side that was much improved in 2024.

Then there was a string of big offensive weapons going off the board. Matt Collison of Beaches went to Oakville at pick 3, followed by Lucas Dudemaine and Alex Marinier who both went to Cobourg. All three of these players stand well above 6 feet tall and will look to be imposing forces for their clubs. Collison was right near the top of the league in scoring while Dudemaine was at times the best player on the floor for Mimico. Marinier wore the C for the Blaze and was dominant during their 2023 run.

Connor Nock went 6th overall to Owen Sound after an unusual but wildly successful Jr. A career. He won back to back Minto Cups with the Blaze and Coquitlam Adanacs and was a part of the Beaches illegal players issue in 2025. With two rings in his pocket, he brings a wealth of experience to Owen Sound.

And rounding out the first round was Nicholas Volkov. The only player drafted who is currently playing in the NLL, Volkov joined the Mimico Mountaineers last year before an injury sidelined him for the final series. He is currently in his second season for the Albany Firewolves.
