The numbers I am about to present are so absurd, I thought I made a mistake.

I finally finished scraping the data for Division II womens lacrosse, and when I sorted the data, I could not believe the number that I saw.

At Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia, there is a Freshmen named Paige Murphy, who is from Calgary, Alberta. She’s about to break the all-time single season scoring record for all of Division II.

Paige has 100 goals this year.

100!

In fact, according to her team site, she has 107 goals, but there is a discrepancy with the official NCAA stats. She also has 36 assists, and a team high 25 caused turnovers, which leads all Canadians.

As far as I can tell, the record for goals in a season is 115, set last season by Maryville’s Sysney Tiemann. Murphy, who is leading the country in scoring this year, currently has 23 more goals than the next closest player, which is Tiemann herself.

Murphy has not scored less than 4 goals in a game this season. In 17 games, she has scored 4 goals three times, scored 6 goals five times, scored 7 goals seven times, and scored 8 goals twice. She’s had 11 points on five separate occasions, and her season high was 13 points.

She’s doing all of that on efficient shooting (54%) and with the aforementioned 38 assists.

I hope to feature Paige on the website soon, but had to get some of the numbers out ASAP. As just a freshmen, she is having a season for the ages.

Paige is one of 80 Canadian women competing around the nation. Unlike other divisions, players from British Columbia lead the participation among Canadian women, with 34 players. Alberta is second with 29, and Ontario has 15.

Antonella Mikolyuk represents La Belle Province, she is from Montreal and competes for American International. Meanwhile Macey Hatfield competes for UVA Wise and hails from St. John New Brunswick.

Aside from Murphy, Ella Royer (Sherwood Park, Alberta) is the leading Canadian scorer. With 71 goals of her own this season, she sits in the top five nationally in goals per game.

Thornton, Ontario’s Kristie Fisher is leading all Canadians in assists, which is unsurprising. She competes alongside Murphy for Emmanuel. Lander’s Emmy Peterson (Calgary, Alberta) is having a strong season as well, with 46 goals and 28 assists through 13 games.

Like the men, you can find the statistics for every Canadian woman in the second division here

On the mens side, the best week came from Wesley Phillips (Coquitlam, BC) of the Tusculum Pioneers. Phillips had 10 points in his team’s victory over Adams St. With 4 goals and 6 assists. Phillips did it all for the Pioneers.

Luke Ory (Nanaimo, BC) had a big week for the Malone Pioneers as well (yes, both schools are called the Pioneers). He had a 5 goal, 2 assist outing against Wheeling University. He’s up to 53 points, a great season for a freshman.

Scott Reed (Whitby, Ontario) had his second straight 6 goal game against Anderson to lead the Newberry Wolves to victory. Fellow Canadian Zach Thompson (Ottawa, Ontario) had 2 goals and 2 assists as well.

Wingate Freshmen Sean Clark (Victoria, BC) had a huge 8 point performance on 4 goals and 4 assists. He was part of a 20-goal performance by his squad in a dominant day over Coker. Clark has 38 goals on 50% shooting. That’s elite.

Ries Bower (Lethbridge, Alberta) again led the way in caused turnovers with 12 in three games since we last posted. While Prairie Boy Garret Brockmeyer (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) picked up 12 ground balls and won 13 of 26 faceoffs for Lake Erie. He also added 3 caused turnovers and scored twice.

What a weekend for the kid from the Stoon!

Like always, the total stats can be found here.
