The Rochester Knighthawks announced Friday that they acquired goaltender Doug Buchan from the Buffalo Bandits in return for Rochester’s third-round pick in the 2026 NLL Entry Draft.
It was the second trade for a goaltender since December 28, when they acquired Kevin Orleman in exchange for forward Stephen Keogh.
The moves come after the injury to goaltender Rylan Hartley. Hartley was placed on the injured reserve on December 27th after getting hit in the head with a ball during Rochester’s game on December 23rd.
Rochester goaltender Riley Hutchcraft has filled the spot in Hartley’s absence. In 188:01 minutes this season, Hutchraft is sporting a 12.45 GAA and a 75.9% Save Percentage.
Buchan has been with the Bandits since 2021. His last game action was in 2022 when he made six appearances. The most action he saw in a season was in 2019 with the Philadelphia Wings when he played 810 minutes and posted a 13.17 GAA and 74.9% Save Percentage.
In an article posted by the Knighthawks, General Manager Dan Carey said of Hartley, “he’s progressing and he’s doing well. It’s always tough to see someone leave the floor as he did, but he’s being looked after. We’re checking in on him and he’s doing better. The health of our players is number one. He’s had a few concussions in his career, so we want to make sure we’re doing what’s right for him.”
“He’s a tremendous teammate and a guy we’ve believed in since day one and continue to believe in,” said Carey.
