The Rochester Knighthawks acquired Ryan Lanchbury from the Georgia Swarm on Thursday in return for a first selection in the 2024 NLL entry draft, and a conditional first round selection in either the 2024 or 2025 NLL entry draft.

Lanchbury competed in 10 games last season for the Swarm after being selected with the second overall pick in the 2022 NLL entry draft. He contributed six goals and 10 assists for the Swarm.

Lanchbury missed significant time during the 2023 season, spending close to a month on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

For Rochester, the trade re-unites Lanchbury with longtime friend and teammate, current Knightawks forward Ryan Smith. Both players hail from Burlington, Ontario, and played minor and junior lacrosse together.

During the 2018 season, Smith’s last in junior, the pair led the Burlington Chiefs to a first place finish in the OJLL. Smith eclipsed 100 points, scoring 52 goals and 49 assists. Meanwhile, Lanchbury only played in 15 games but added 88 points on 30 goals and 58 assists.

The 58 assists were third behind only Jeff Teat and Clarke Petterson of the Brampton Excelsiors.

After making the trade Wednesday, Rochester sent Pent Eistrat from the active roster to the practice player list.

The Knighthawks will look to improve on their 1-0 start on Saturday when they take on the Saskatchewan Rush, while Georgia begins their 2023 campaign at home on Saturday against the Colorado Mammoth.
